Fana Hues released her new EP 'Catch n' Release' today.
The project is "inspired by the ritual of fishing—the wait, the pull, the release," and "embraces curiosity, instinct, and the thrill of discovery," according to a press release.
The fishing concept is something she's been circling for a while. In a recent interview with P&P, she explains the connection: "So much about fishing leaks into my musicality: the patience, the intuition, luck and skill." That instinct-driven mindset extends to how she makes music in general. As she put it, she's committed to a "farm-to-table process," working with "minimal interference" in order to "sharpen [her] intuition and commit to purity." @fanahues lets songs keep the shape of the emotion they were written in, rather than overworking them into something else.
The EP marks her first solo project since 2024's 'Moth,' the closing chapter of a trilogy centered on growth, healing, intimacy, and self-discovery. With 'Catch n' Release,' Fana steps into new territory. It's described as "her most expansive and playful body of work to date."
