I Wish I Knew This Pitching Drill Years Ago | Completely Changed My Short Game
A while back Ping did research on chipping and pitching and found the best players get the club to first touch the ground within about an inch of the ball—and in my opinion that’s the #1 skill for great short game. In this video I show you my penny drill (two pennies = about that 1" window) and how I score it over 20 reps so you can actually measure progress instead of guessing. Then I share the counterintuitive pieces that made me way more consistent: a small weight shift instead of locking everything still, letting the club release instead of holding angles. Using a Blue Brick as a guide to keep the club more “on top” (not dragged from the inside). This is a game changer. Check out my 11-in-1 Training Aid here 🔗➡️ https://t.co/j9T701jcOB
The shaft lean you need to flight your wedges like the pros, seems like an exaggeration, but with the wedge impact setting on the Brick uses tour player data to help you get in that great position at impact

Better players usually don't have a problem drawing the golf ball, but oftentimes they start down a little on the steeper side and that club gets to where it drops under late, gets stuck behind them.

When I stand up out of my posture, my hips go in toward the golf ball. My spine straightens up and my shirt buttons actually get farther away from the golf ball. Pros do the opposite.

With a tool like the blue brick you can stop wasting time on the driving range, and get focused on what really matters… Improving your impact. This is a great way to get center face contact, and make sure you keep your divot in front of the ball.

I want to show you my favorite drill for avoiding the toe or heel strikes, and make really good ball-first contact.
If you can feel this angle on the back of you right wrist, once you get down about hip high, you want to feel like you fully release it, almost like you're striking a match against the turf that's going to help you keep that divot in front.

The dreaded 60 yard wedge shot. This thing can wreak havoc on people's games. If we're inconsistent and we start to chunk this shot, it dribbles up short of the green. Now we have to get up and down for another one, and it's really embarrassing. Your player partner, playing partners or your playing partner if you're in a team game, are looking at you like, "What the heck is going on? Go to my previous posts to see how we can kick it once and for all!
Now, the point here is to keep the ball under the top of the stick. As usual, when you pull this off, you'll be shocked at just how low pros actually launch the wedges. My in depth research shows this is the height that gives you the optimal chance to consistently put a ton of spin on the ball. There's a number of ways to use two bricks together, but one of my favorite ways because this is really what I'm struggling with is getting that good forward shaft lean with the wedge.

If you want to have a highly effective wedge game, stop your ball from rolling out, or even spin it back like the pros. Launch angle setting on the blue brick will help you understand what it takes to strike your wedges like a tour pro.
