I am starting again on this account, no more bullshit, I have been a right tit with some people that I thought of very highly. I am sorry about all of that. I also got caught up in other dumb drama that had nothing to do with me. I think staying clear of that is best.
@soncharm@ThatGingerOne1 Well to be fair, it’s not our culture. It’s a fictional setting. In a world where names like Lando, Qui-Gon and Jar Jar exist. Why not call someone’s nickname Ani??? Nothing burger arguments yet again bro.
@soncharm You just cannot provide anything of substance. You suggest changing a major part of Star Wars, yet you don’t suggest what could actually replace it to improve it. From a storytellers perspective, you are just pissin in the wind man.
@soncharm And I came here in a respectful manner. I expected something of substance, instead I got exactly what other users think of you as. It’s a shame, but not something I hold against you. Wish you well in this crazed place.
@soncharm Then why argue with people in the replies? Why be so bothered when they actually have something of substance to say? Just face it, you didn’t like the way things went, but you don’t actually have the creativity to write a better conclusion. But you could at least try.
@soncharm But you are literally not providing even as much as a pitch. You just bullet point things you would prefer. You don’t even make an argument as to why framing the reveal as a lie would make for a better film. Face it mate, this is pish lmao
@soncharm I suppose what I am trying to say is. You don’t actually have a story to tell. More like what you want it to be rather than what makes a stronger narrative. And Vader being just another bad guy for Luke to kill. There is just no emotional climax there. It’s a nothing burger.
@soncharm True they aren’t but come on now. I get it in a way. But there is so much good still out there, you don’t need to reverse interesting developments in order to make a good story. I just thought I was maybe talking to a storyteller, someone who had thought it through.
@soncharm There is no big deal, I just think your ideas come across as pure fan wish fulfilment from an older disgruntled fan than it does someone actually wanting to tell a story. Two films would have been nice though, I will say that. Saving Han should have been a film of its own.
@soncharm Forget locations, just pure character arcs. None of this superficial stuff, just purely what the story actually is, the themes explored. Cause it surely cannot just be, Luke slices down Vader in cold blood. And walks off into the sunset.
@soncharm I don’t know, it just feels a bit less interesting. I suppose it would depend on the execution of the idea. Why not rewrite VI or pitch me how you would do it? Because to me, your
idea just doesn’t fit with anything else but the original 1977 classic atm.
@soncharm It’s great mythic storytelling. It was a good retcon and created more opportunities to make the saga a modern myth going forward. As for how they answered all the questions left behind by the end of the OT. That is another story, but I see the Vader/Luke reveal as genius.
@soncharm Anakin and Vader being one and the same is a retcon sure. And one could argue that it makes it ever so much convoluted. But I believe the series benefitted from it and there is a reason the OT stands the test of time. The son saves the father, the father saves the son.
