Happy Holidays from the Zackenberg Research Station. As we bid farewell to this year, we hope the New Arctic Year ahead will bring exciting discoveries in our research, and a sustainable season with our new solar panels. #Greenland#monitoing
New paper alert! Investigated microbial response to abrupt #permafrost#thaw: RNA sequencing of 26,500-year-old material reveals a dynamic interplay between copiotrophic bacteria, microbiome predators, and ancient #soil#carbon in Zackenberg @ZERO74N

@ZERO74N has now been left for the winter. @JackowiczMarcin and @KleemolaVesa have struggled to ensure continuous winter measurements at high-arctic #ICOS station, Zackenberg. Instruments serviced, autonomous power system optimized. Hope the PBs will not return and terrorize.
Farewell to another incredible field season at Zackenberg Research Station! As the station closed its doors last week, we want to thank all the guests and scientists who joined us. Stay tuned for updates on deadlines and upcoming research projects in 2024! Photos by MarcinJK
Great videos made for our educational project with #BioBasis, #GeoBasis and #ClimateBasis subprogramme in Kobbefjord, with an additional bonus of visiting high school students from Nuuk. New educational material and videos based on GEM data soon to be developed @NuukNERO#Asiaq
GEM Annual report Cards 2022 are now online with highlights from the 3 main sites and the long term #monitoring in Greenland. First year of the new GEM strategy and the division into science themes. Enjoy the read! @ZERO74N@NuukNERO@ArcticStationUC

Green transition in Zackenberg with solar power: The past few weeks with mixed weather conditions the generator was only on 17% of the time. A tremendous saving on fossil fuel use for the station where the generator used to run 24/7 😊
The @uarctic BEFLUX#V2 GHG course just ended in Nuuk, GL. @TorbenRC@TFriborg @_LopezBlanco and students had an amazing week discussing the challenges and opportunities of GHG flux monitoring in the #Arctic, visiting the @NuukNERO site, and utilizing long-term data from GEM.
Deadline 1. 8 #ArcGIS https://t.co/utSp2T26zn
Creating value for 🇬🇱 research stakeholders🙌
The #ArcticHub board gathered in #Nuuk this week. Highlights: exclusive research vessel tour at Tarajoq, valuable dialogue with key stakeholders, and scenic boat trip into the Nuuk Fjord ☀️

We are happy to send off the first researchers to Zackenberg today - delayed 1 day due to a snow storm in NE Greenland. The first teams from Greenland Ecosystem Monitoring programme are #GeoBasis and #GlacioBasis - ready for field work! #TwinOtter#monitoring@GEM_Arctic
Do you want to spend the summer as a field assistant in a unique remote high-Arctic environment? Then read this job advertisement. We are hiring field assistants for vegetation surveys at Zackenberg Research Station, Northeastern Greenland see: https://t.co/07Fiewq9Ho
Course announcement for Ph.D students: Building on long-term ecosystem monitoring data from GEM, the BEFLUX summer school provide a platform for research training #Arctic#climatechange.
@NuukNERO Sign up before March 15!

Teaching processes active in winter of key importance for climate under harsh cold temperatures in Oulanka, NE Finland. Colleague @_LopezBlanco doing a great job instructing on greenhouse gas exchange measurements. @OulankaStation
Great use of the long-term monitoring flux datasets from Zackenberg Research station. New paper out in Scientific Reports "Rapid shift in greenhouse forcing of emerging arctic peatlands" https://t.co/fz4cenfMGB #Arctic#monitoring#methane#greenhousegas@GEM_Arctic
