@HoodedReptilian@archeohistories Before slavery was abolished in America? Because slavery was never fully abolished in the Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman Empire literally died before they gave up their slaves.
@ToupsLawre34300@archeohistories It's well documented that Muslims castrated their male slaves. Not only did this have a high mortality rate (~90%), but it also prevented slaves from having children and developing multigenerational resentments that would lead to slave revolts.
@Wilsworld9@archeohistories Not well. The men were being castrated in a process that had a 90% mortality rate, and the women were largely used as concubines, and traded as luxury property for the pleasure of the affluent.
@Anaidj9d@archeohistories There are many documented examples of muslim slave raids on European cities. For example, he didn't mention Ireland by accident... He's talking about the 1631 "Sack of Baltimore", when muslim pirates raided the Irish village of Baltimore and captured and enslaved half its people
@MarvelWarRoom@AdamKinzinger I don't think it's a question of "deciding" to fix it, but of figuring out how. People respond to incentives, but I don't know how you incentivize under-spending in a way that doesn't instinctively feel like you're not giving your soldiers everything they deserve.
@micah_erfan Um, yes, correct. You must be a citizen to vote. Do you think you should not have to prove you are a citizen? Do we just take your word for it? In what sense, then, would you actually have to be a citizen to vote?
@MarvelWarRoom@AdamKinzinger "The Old Use or Lose budget strategy" is the point. Why drag Hegseth, specifically, for this when every Government Agency in every Administration does this. Until Congress finds a way to incentivize agencies to "lose" instead of "use", this will keep happening.
@Lazy_Saviour@lisakeb007@Nithya_Shrii The more industries adapt to using robotics and AI, the more individuals can move from being "the worker" to being "the owner". I can open my own print shop, or my own micro-warehouse to receive and ship packages without needing a massive warehouse footprint or labor outlays.
@Lazy_Saviour@lisakeb007@Nithya_Shrii Good historical example: The Teamster's Union was against trucks. Why? Because they took care of the horses that made all the deliveries. Trucks destroyed the horse care industry. Yet the Teamsters now employ an many more people because trucks made nationwide delivery affordable.
