We need to mitigate for now. And then, if we can do that, we need to find ways as communities to put money in people's pockets and food on their tables. This is incredibly basic movement growth stuff that we've abandoned for blackpilled hopelessness.
Let's make sure the @nytimes gets all the credit they deserve for what happened tonight. They worked really hard to make Trump look like a normal viable alternative to Kamala and well...
This is not the time for unicausal explanations or blame assignment. Trump won because of many reasons including propaganda, demonization, racism, militarization of politics & lack of justice regarding his coup attempt. Legality is central to democracy & it was blatantly ignored
Lying recklessly and wildly, attacking women and minorities, running on a platform of mass violence, these are simply the most effective political strategies in the United States
We have to think strategically, we have to be allies. I know we all want to finger point, lord knows I do. But if you are feeling despair right now, use it to connect. All I know for certain right now is that we cannot make it through this dark night alone.
I don't know what to say. It isn't over, but we all hoped for a better night. To be honest, I don't know how you win in this environment. Trump does better every time he runs - never worse. At a certain point, you just realize this is just what the country wants
They won't in 10 months. Trump was historically unpopular, of course, he will be again. But there's not gonna be anyone to save us this time. The damage he's about to do will take decades to fix, if it is fixable at all. It's not much of a balm.
pre-mortem: i disagree with like 90% of what the dems have done, but im also skeptical of all the "would have won if they did x" takes. fascism has a pretty high floor in this country and i think inflation (which is essentially a covid phenomenon) is crazy politically toxic
Regardless of the outcome at this point, I really hope this outcome ends the idea that Trump's first term was some sort of fluke, that we as a country are 'better than that.' Naive, see-no-evil ass position that self-sabotages the work of building an holsitic alternative vision.
this man got impeached twice AND arrested and he’s still in our face running for president. and people are still voting for him. shit is actually crazy lol
I want Kamala Harris to win because of her policies and the way she would represent our country.
I also want her to win so this Trump era can come to an end. This is one of the ugliest decades in modern history.
for 80 millionth time, the only reason Pennsylvania can't do this is because Republicans blocked a bill that would've allowed the pre-processing of early votes
If NYT/Siena is anywhere near right, we could easily see a pretty disastrous result for Harris in Florida that isn’t replicated across any of the other battlegrounds
