This week we've been exploring all things science for InquisiTOR Week. On Monday we went on a virtual reality journey through space & the planets of our solar system. They got to blast off into space & explore each planet, learning facts & figures about each one along the way.
Our Y8 pupils have been studying African Music & this week they got to take part in a wonderful workshop on Djembe drumming. Run by music specialists Inspire-Works, it gave students the opportunity to develop their technical drumming skills & learn about African music first-hand.
Last weekend, the Tormead Jazz Band performed at the Christmas Fair held in Guildford Cathedral. Many pieces were performed, from classic songs to Christmas favourites like โHere Comes Santa Clausโ. The performance ended with the Christmas Potpourri, a medley of festive tunes.
Yr 8-11 students recently attended the Guildford and surrounding Schools Maths Quiz. Teams of 3 competed against other local schools in problem-solving, spatial puzzles, estimating and Maths rounds.
Just spent a magnificent evening at the @YvonneArnaud watching @franticassembly wonderfully expressionist 'Metamorphosis' with our Drama A Levellers. So much inspiration for future work!
This week marked the second half of the autumn term and our annual Prefects Dinner with RGS. Sixth-form students from Tormead and RGS attended an evening of socialising and brain power with a general knowledge quiz.
In our commemorative Remembrance Day assembly, the Drama Captains Elka-Rose & Sasha, spoke about The Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal & gave a poetry reading of โIn Flanders Fieldsโ by John McCrae. The whole school contributed to the stunning display of artwork seen on stage.
