In sad news: the actor Gailard Sartain just passed away. As a kid he made me laugh and feel…other things. He was probably my first celebrity crush. His cherubic face and silliness were a sexy combination for me but I also appreciated his more dramatic roles. RIP big guy.

@HuxBear Hee Haw was a little before my time (sorry) but still it’s possible I saw him in reruns of that first. Not sure.

It’s funny, he’s most known for his comic characters but my most vivid memories are his dramatic roles (The Outsiders, Mississippi Burning, Fried Green Tomatoes).

@HuxBear I know! I just checked his IMDB entry: 80 acting credits between 1970-2005.

He appeared in many small roles but it was likely The Outsiders (photo above) in which I first saw him and instantly fell in love. I thought he was beautiful!
