@Azarilh @LinusTech The idea is that instead of looking at a bright screen on a dark background, where you're looking is more evenly bright. Also try to stick to warm colors like oranges and reds instead of blues.

@Azarilh @LinusTech It's less bright irl it just looks brighter because I turned the monitors off to overexpose it. Ambient lighting behind your monitor apparently reduces eye strain!

@sheldoncarter Look into getting a pair of real quality headphones and pairing them with a desk mic or modmic / vmoda boompro.
If you really must get a headset i've heard good things about the sound quality of the cooler master MH751 and hyperx cloud.
