@matt_levine You could be right. Is there a difference between cent = 100x (centennial) and centi = 1/100th (centimeter)?
Sorry, it probably came across as me correcting you. Meant the mention as a thanks for making me aware of the word, not as me saying you were wrong.
Ran across term centibillionaire today. @matt_levine Means worth $100 billion. But it doesn't. Centi = 1/100th as in centimeter = 1/100th of a meter.
Correct term for person worth $100 billion is hectobillionaire. But that sounds stupid, so we're stuck with the wrong word.🤦♂️🤷♂️
The danger of making predictions.
Michael Wilson @MorganStanley said equity risk premium in "death zone" and stocks could slide up to 26% in first half 2023. https://t.co/gjY0shMT8r
Up 10% since.
Remember 2010/11? Market experts said rally off of '09 low too much, too soon. Hmm.
The danger of making predictions. 11/3/22 Greg Jensen said S&P500 to go down 20% more over next 6-7 months. https://t.co/gBzemPs9Mq
He was suffering from recency bias and predicted the past as so many do.
Think about it, yes. Prepare for it, yes. Predict it or count on it, no.
Just learned @CathieDWood called some investors "old DNA" My view: Old DNA is successful DNA. It's survived & been passed along generations. It hasn't killed its organism via mutations that lower survival. It confers a needed function to survival. I'll take the compliment. 🧬😄
@Codie_Sanchez That's true for single purchases or indices. But investors can buy many times, e.g. during the recovery, shrinking that period for ourselves.
