Bruno Fernandes winning the PFA Player of the Year is completely defensible. His influence, creativity and consistency were exceptional, and his 2025/26 season was arguably one of the best individual campaigns in the league.

But here’s the uncomfortable question:

How much should winning the Premier League matter when deciding the best player?

Arsenal won the title, yet Bruno took the biggest individual prize, while Arsenal still dominated the PFA Team of the Year.

Maybe football needs to separate two arguments more clearly:

The best player ≠ the player from the best team.

And honestly, that debate is far more interesting than arguing over club badges.⚽
