Cette FAQ a pour but d'apporter des réponses claires sur le fonctionnement et l'avenir de Thotario. Nous avons rassemblé ici une première liste de questions que nous avons reçues jusqu'à présent.

1. Thotario, qu'est-ce que c'est ?

Thotario est une plateforme (site web et application mobile iOS et Android) en cours de développement, sur laquelle les consommateurs pourront acheter et revendre leurs ebooks et jeux PC. Les créateurs de ces œuvres pourront, quant à eux, profiter de ce marché secondaire en percevant une commission sur chaque revente de leurs créations.

2. Quels avantages à acheter un produit numérique neuf plutôt qu’un exemplaire de seconde main ?

Les créateurs proposeront des avantages exclusifs réservés à l’achat d’un produit neuf. Par exemple, des skins ou du contenu additionnel pour un jeu PC, une couverture alternative, une dédicace ou encore des bonus à retrouver en librairie ou lors de salons du livre pour un ebook. De plus, toutes les opérations commerciales (réductions, soldes, etc.) s’appliqueront uniquement aux achats de produits neufs.

3. Est-ce que je pourrai revendre n’importe quel ebook ou jeu PC sur Thotario ?

Seuls les produits numériques achetés sur Thotario pourront y être revendus. Il est également important de noter que la revente sera entièrement contrôlée par le créateur, qui pourra choisir d’activer ou non cette option pour ses œuvres.

4. Pourquoi n’est-il pas possible de revendre ses produits numériques sur les plateformes traditionnelles ?

Un livre papier ou un jeu physique peuvent être revendus en tant que support. En effet, seul le papier qui compose le livre ou la boîte et le disque/cartouche du jeu peuvent être revendu, et non le contenu culturel en lui-même. Les versions dématérialisées ne disposant en général pas de support, le consommateur n'a donc rien à revendre suite à son achat. Chez Thotario, chaque produit numérique acheté est associé à un NFT échangeable servant de support numérique qu’il sera donc possible de revendre par la suite.

5. En tant que créateur, comment être sûr que les revendeurs paieront ma commission ?

La revente s’effectuant via un NFT, elle ne pourra avoir lieu qu’en passant par le smart contract d’où est issu le NFT. La commission du créateur y sera inscrite, et lors de la revente, le montant payé par l’acheteur sera automatiquement réparti : le revendeur recevra son paiement après déduction de la commission du créateur et de celle de Thotario. Ainsi, la redevance s’appliquera automatiquement et le créateur sera garanti d’être rémunéré à chaque transaction impliquant son œuvre.

6. Quelle est notre vision pour l'avenir de Thotario ?

Notre ambition est de faire de Thotario une référence incontournable dans la distribution des ebooks et jeux PC. Le temps de développement prévu est de 1 an pour la version ebook et 2 ans pour la version gaming. Ces deux premières années seront donc entièrement consacrées au développement des fonctionnalités indispensables.
Les années suivantes, nous enrichirons l'expérience utilisateur en proposant des outils avancés et de nouvelles fonctionnalités qui offriront encore plus de possibilités aux créateurs et aux consommateurs.
Enfin, nous comptons renforcer notre présence à l’international dès le lancement officiel de la plateforme. Cela nous permettra de toucher un public plus large, d'attirer des créateurs du monde entier et d'offrir une diversité de contenus plus riche aux utilisateurs, consolidant ainsi Thotario comme une plateforme de référence sur le marché global.

The aim of this FAQ is to provide clear answers to questions about the operation and future of Thotario. We've put together a first list of questions we've received so far.

1. What is Thotario?

Thotario is a platform (website and iOS and Android mobile app) currently under development, on which consumers will be able to buy and resell their ebooks and PC games. As for the creators of these works, they will be able to profit from this secondary market by receiving a commission on each resale of their creations.

2. What are the advantages of buying a new digital product rather than a second-hand copy?

Creators will offer exclusive advantages reserved for the purchase of a new product. For example, skins or additional content for a PC game, an alternative cover, a dedication or even bonuses to be found in bookshops or at book fairs for an ebook. In addition, all commercial operations (discounts, sales, etc.) will only apply to purchases of new products.

3. Can I resell any ebook or PC game on Thotario?

Only digital products purchased on Thotario can be resold. It's also important to note that resale will be entirely controlled by the creator, who can choose whether or not to activate this option for his or her works.

4. Why can't I resell my digital products on traditional platforms?

A paper book or a physical game can be resold as a medium. In fact, only the paper making up the book or box and the game disc/cartridge can be resold, not the cultural content itself. As dematerialized versions generally have no support, consumers have nothing to resell following their purchase. At Thotario, each digital product purchased is associated with an exchangeable NFT serving as a digital medium that can be resold at a later date.

5. As a designer, how can I be sure that resellers will pay my commission?

Since resale takes place via an NFT, it can only take place via the smart contract from which the NFT originated. The creator's commission will be entered in the smart contract, and when the product is resold, the amount paid by the buyer will be automatically split: the reseller will receive payment after deduction of the creator's commission and that of Thotario. In this way, the royalty will be applied automatically, and the creator will be guaranteed remuneration for each transaction involving his work.

6. What is our vision for the future of Thotario?

Our ambition is to make Thotario an essential reference in the distribution of ebooks and PC games. The planned development time is 1 year for the ebook version and 2 years for the gaming version. The first two years will therefore be entirely devoted to developing essential features.
In the following years, we'll be enriching the user experience with advanced tools and new features that will open up even more possibilities for creators and consumers alike.
Finally, we intend to strengthen our international presence as soon as the platform is officially launched. This will enable us to reach a wider audience, attracting creators from all over the world and offering a richer diversity of content to users, consolidating Thotario as a benchmark platform on the global market.
