Every year on October 15th, people all around the world celebrate National Pug Day to show their appreciation for this lovely breed and to encourage others to adopt a Pug from a shelter or rescue group rather than purchase one from a pet store.

September 17 is observed annually as Responsible Dog Ownership Day to raise awareness of the importance of taking care of your pets. Dog owners can be reminded of the importance of their roles in their dogs' lives and be more dedicated to fulfilling those roles.

Puppy Mill Awareness Day, is observed on the third Saturday of September, the 17th of this year with the goal of persuading dog lovers to adopt instead of shop for a new pet. A day set aside to raise awareness of the plight of dogs, specifically those bred in puppy mills.
