Salt & Straw is coming to Idaho, and it's bringing some friends with it.

The Portland-based artisanal ice cream institution is opening its first-ever Idaho location at The Village at Meridian this summer, stepping into the Bodovino space after it closes May 31st.

City permits and public filings also show a wave of new tenants arriving at The Village in fall 2026: Flower Child, The Capital Grille, Paris Baguette, Tecovas, Kendra Scott, and Alo Yoga.

What happens when a defunct horse racing track, a long-standing Greenbelt gap, and a missing footbridge all get fixed at the same time?

Boise gets a whole new relationship with its river.

The Park at Expo Idaho officially broke ground in December 2024, and the countdown is on! Opening in late Summer 2026, this massive destination will feature winding nature trails, expansive open spaces, a world-class skate park, and immersive nature play areas for kids, all seamlessly connected to the Boise River and the Greenbelt. Plus, Idaho's first professional soccer team, Athletic Club Boise, is officially taking the pitch on the adjacent county property!

The momentum doesn't stop there. Boise State is widening and upgrading its stretch of the Greenbelt between Theater Lane and Broadway, with construction set to kick off in Spring 2026. Simultaneously, Ada County is finally bridging the gap near 52nd Street with a brand-new pedestrian bridge.

The James Beard Awards are happening May 19th, and the Treasure Valley has five reasons to tune in.

On the National level, Ansots is up for Outstanding Hospitality. Bar, Please! is competing for Best New Bar. Three Boise chefs are semifinalists for Best Chef: Mountain; Alex Cardoza of Susina, Cal Elliott of The Avery, and Nathan Whitley of Terroir.

We stopped by to check it out and the whole space feels completely refreshed. From the new game room at the entrance to the upgraded theatres, everything is on another level.

The recliners, the sound, the screen quality… it all pulls you into the movie way more than your typical theatre experience.

Kick off your Saturday morning (5/16) on the Greenbelt for the 49th Annual Famous Idaho Potato Marathon, with the Marathon starting at 7AM, Half at 9AM, 10K at 10AM, or 5K at 10:30AM. And yes, there IS a baked potato bar waiting for you at the finish line. 🏅

Later that night, the Stadium at Expo Idaho has Athletic Club Boise taking on Monterey Bay FC at 7PM. Local soccer, live crowd energy, and a Garden City Saturday night? That's a full day done RIGHT. 🏟️

Run in the morning. Cheer at night. This is the Boise weekend formula. 🤝
