It is a movement advocating the Jews stop waiting for God to redeem is and take our fate into our own hands and become "a nation like all the nations". This is opposite of the Torah which says we are not a nation like all the nations.
It's like a man who says to his wife, "wouldn't it be nice to go out on the town tonight" and she replies, "I agree completely! I'll be back in the morning".
If you are defining Zionism colloquialy you may be correct (depending on the colloquial definition you are using). But the historical political movement called Zionism has a much more specific definition and it has little to nothing to do with the Torah sources re Eretz Yisrael.
Though, like many secular movements, it had few scruples about summoning those sources (usually half quotes or out of context quotes) to argue their point when it was useful to them.
@MichalSabra It also ensures that the people who are making money frim NYC investment properties are residents who are contributing to the tax base through income tax on the profit they earn.
@MichalSabra He is only taxing out of state second property owners. Although I am by no means a fan of Mamdani, I don't understand how this could be bad for NY. It should being down real estate prices somewhat since there will be fewer people competing to purchase properties.
@xavierjamesg@Biedaboo@alexppeloquin@RepOgles 1. Samaritans were concidered apostate Israelites, not gentiles as you will find in the rabbinic literature of the time.
2. Jesus was passing through traveling between the Galilee and Judea. There's nothing to suggest he was seeking out interaction even with the Samaritans.
@AlWayzrite9@alexppeloquin@RepOgles My point still stands. You are saying that one day he didn't want to waste his precious time dealing with a gentile woman and the next day he was dealing with them in the thousands. I'm getting whiplash.
@AlWayzrite9@alexppeloquin@RepOgles So the way you read it is that Jesus at first felt gentiles are akin to dogs and not worthy of his time, but he quickly changed his mind and dealt with them in the thousands.
Yes he is in decapolis in the previous chapter and depending which gospel you believe in Magdala or Bethesda in the next. But the only geographic info for the purported feeding of 4000 is on a slope near the Sea of Galilee. If the gospel writers were trying to say he was feeding gentiles they would have made it clear.
