This day in Fort Collins history. "Firebug" set Board of Trade saloon ablaze on N College. FC was known to "smoke out" residents of brothels and dens. Vol fire dpt also got a free beer for every fire they put out. Because of this there were many fires in FC in 1880's.

This day in Fort Collins history. Courier article 3/30/1882 shows treasury report for yearly saloon licenses. JT Wilson's saloon (1st in FC) was east of the ne corner of Jefferson and Linden (1875). Saloon licenses paid a lot of the city's bills like infrastructure and schools.
This day in Fort Collins history. Today marks the 107 year anniversary of the death of FC's most famous madame, Marie Lafitte. Lafitte ran her brothel, the Kandy Kitchen on Linden for 15 years. She was killed by a suspicious fire set at her home.
