On the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra, I extend my warmest greetings to all devotees of Lord Jagannath.

In Bengal, this year’s celebration is especially meaningful. Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble CM Smt. Mamata Banerjee, Digha now proudly houses a newly consecrated Jagannath Dham, a sanctum that will serve as a spiritual landmark for decades to come.

As the divine chariot rolls forward today, may it carry with it the aspirations of every devotee, the hopes of every household and the soul of a Bengal that moves ahead, rooted in tradition, but unafraid to build anew.

For 31 ELDERLY PATIENTS who visited the #Sebaashray Model Camp in Falta, this wasn’t just about a routine health check-up; it was a LIFELINE, a chance to reclaim a future that dimmed with every passing day. Through FREE CATARACT SURGERIES at the Vivekananda Mission Asram Netra Niramay Niketan, these men and women were not just handed the GIFT OF SIGHT; they were handed back their AUTONOMY, their CONFIDENCE and the simple JOY OF LIVING.

This is what Sebaashray truly stands for! It isn’t merely about healthcare but about DISMANTLING BARRIERS that deny people their fundamental right to live with dignity. It’s about a Diamond Harbour where every resident, irrespective of their means, has access to QUALITY CARE that empowers them to lead FULLER, FREER LIVES.

This isn’t about numbers or metrics; it’s about LIVES CHANGED, DREAMS REIGNITED and FUTURES BRIGHTENED.

Healthcare is not charity – it’s a FUNDAMENTAL RIGHT. It is our promise that NO ONE WILL BE LEFT BEHIND and NO DREAM WILL GO UNSEEN.

#SEBAASHRAY has always been more than just routine health check-ups and free medical services; it is about TIMELY MEDICAL INTERVENTIONS that are now SAVING LIVES. This was evident in the case of 9-year-old Altaf Hosen Ghorami, whose story is a testament to the initiative’s impact.

Altaf’s father brought him to a Sebaashray camp, where routine tests revealed a CRITICAL HEART CONDITION. He was promptly referred to the Model Camp at Diamond Harbour SDO Ground, where further examination confirmed a CONGENITAL CARDIAC ANOMALY that severely impaired his oxygen levels. Acting swiftly, the team referred him to Jagannath Gupta Institute of Medical Sciences and Hospital for advanced care.

On 18th January, 2025, a highly-skilled Pediatric Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) team of 20-25 specialists – including surgeons, perfusionists, anesthetists, nurses and OT technicians – performed a GRUELLING 4-HOUR SURGERY to correct the anomaly. I am relieved to share that Altaf is NOW OUT OF DANGER. With proper post-operative care, he will soon be back on his feet, ready to EMBRACE LIFE WITH RENEWED VIGOUR.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the entire medical team for their expertise, dedication, precision and kindness in handling this mammoth responsibility of saving a child’s life.

Altaf’s story reinforces our commitment to ensuring that EVERY INDIVIDUAL HAS ACCESS TO LIFE-SAVING HEALTHCARE.
