@Briancoffeyyy I’m an OU guy first and foremost. The good Lord delivered those Super Bowls to the Chiefs fans who had been through the struggle and heartbreak. I can’t claim them as my team as I didn’t back then. I’ve mainly always rooted for OU guys in the NFL. 💿+🎥+SAME TEAM= Euphoria
@_jordanclarkin_ As much as I’d love to take the blame. Gotta pin this one on @BallerTowler. I made an emphasis to say “cheesesteak”. Luke, on the other hand, ordered a “Philly” can’t believe the audacity of the kid. 🤦♂️
I love metal music.
I was an emo kid growing up, and I have always been in a state of angst and I relish in it.
I’ve always connected lyrically with the musicians.
Typically they are just as deep with any other genre, and sometimes the chaos can add to the emotion you feel.
It’s the perfect culmination of Order and chaos I always feel like I have in my head.
I was listening to a song by Erra called “Pale Iris”
One of the lyrics is:
”I hate the truth of my capacity for ruin”
This is one truth that most people fail to understand the depth of.
By not understanding our capacity to ruin our entire lives, we keep screwing things up for ourselves.
We do dumb things because we never truly look at our own ability to completely ruin our lives.
People do dumb stuff.
When a decision puts you in a tough spot, more often than not it was the last action that was the straw that broke the camel's back.
This is critical mass.
We can't stand how imperfect we are.
We’re not wired for happiness.
We're wired to self-preserve.
The problem is that this self-preservation instinct doesn’t give a shit about what your goals are.
When we are hungry, our brain triggers us to find food.
Even at the expense of what we really want is to lose weight.
It doesn’t matter how much we want it, if we leave ourselves to these default actions we will always choose the path of comfort.
This same drive to default to the familiar also happens within your own sense of identity.
We want to preserve our sense of self.
Change sucks.
Since we are wired to self-preserve, the last thing we want to do is change.
Changing is hard.
It requires parts of ourselves to die (the lazy parts, indecisive parts, insecure parts, etc).
And when there is a threat of parts of ourselves that is going to 'die', our minds go haywire trying to get us to do anything BUT do what we know we need to do.
If most people can’t change and are stuck doing the same things over and over, it’s clear what you should do right?
Most common advice is to ‘Do something else”
But here’s the issue.
“doing something else” isn’t the first step.
The first step is to STOP doing the action that you know is holding you back.
I would argue that you would probably get WAY more out of life and yourself if you ONLY removed things and didn’t add anything else into your life.
“Dude I’ve tried stopping”
We can think about rewards ALL day and say we want something, but what happens if no matter how many times we try we just don’t seem to be motivated by the things you say that you want?
Enter: Loss Aversion
We have a cognitive bias known as “loss-aversion”
We generally care more about what we have to lose than what we have to gain.
And you can use this to your advantage.
By understanding your capacity to ruin your fckin life.
Think about it.
You could literally get up at any moment and go do something so CRAZY that you could ruin your life in an instant.
Take it a step further.
Think about the things you do on a daily basis that YOU KNOW will probably end up leaving you behind in life.
Your job is to STOP doing those and that’s it.
I think that this is the start of working with your shadow self.
Because most of the time we avoid the messed up parts of us.
And we keep from looking at those parts of ourselves by keeping busy.
Your job then is to be bored.
So when you get bored, you can allow yourself room to examine the actions that are keeping you stuck.
This is where you can come to terms with yourself that you aren’t as great as you think you are.
You can deal with all of your shame and guilt chillin in there.
All that those feelings and that version of you want, is to make sure you know that they exist.
But they aren’t meant to hold you back.
This is why you HAVE to be aware of how much power you have.
Because everything in life is about polarity.
There is no good and bad.
There is only "stuff"
But if you can ruin your life, that means you also have the capacity to make it really fuckin good.
When we can become aware of our ability to fuck things up, we pay much closer attention to the things that we do that would lead us down that road.
Leverage your own psychology to work for you.
Watch your life improve.
Buffalo Chicken rollers at QT are a typical go to. HAD to come on here to warn people not to get the limited time Orange Chicken rollers. As a big boy in remission it’s hard to come by a food that I despise. I did w/ these though.
