Thailand govt destroying Lord Vishnuβs statue is a truly shameful act. Are they fighting with Cambodia or Hinduism?
Such actions may impact the centuries-old civilizational and cultural relationship between India and Thailand, built on mutual respect and shared heritage.
Thailandβs current dynasty is the Chakri Dynastyβnamed after Chakra, the weapon of Vishnu.
Each king is revered as Rama, Vishnuβs incarnation.
Yet Thai politicians and soldiers destroy Vishnu statues on Cambodian territory, while praying for the Thai royal familyβs blessings.
On December 26, 2025, from 6:08am to 7:15am, the Thai military deployed F-16 fighter jets to drop as many as 40 bombs, to intensify its bombardment in the area of Chok Chey village and to destroy innocent civiliansβ houses and properties as well as public infrastrutures there in the most ruthless and inhumane manner.
The brutal actions above are indiscriminate attacks by the Thai military, a serious violation of international humanitarian law.

The National Authority for Preah Vihear (NAPV) expressed strong condemnation of the brutal and inhumane acts perpetrated by the Thai government and military, which invaded and attacked the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Cambodia from July 24 to 28, 2025.
This invasion resulted in the destruction of 142 locations of the World Heritage Sites of Preah Vihear, along with 42 surrounding infrastructures, including Wat Keo Sikh Kiriswara, public facilities, and the NAPV office buildings. It has adversely affected 60 locations of communities surrounding the Preah Vihear Temple, including homes, schools, pagoda, and other public infrastructures, forcing the evacuation of 14,832 people from the area, according to a petition seen by Fresh News on Friday (Dec. 26).
The second invasion by the Thai military, which began on December 7, 2025, and continues to the present, has caused further severe damage to the Preah Vihear Temple, including the site of the Cambodia-India collaborative conservation and restoration project and each gopura structure of the temple.
Destroying a Hindu deityβs statue under the pretext of a border dispute is unacceptable. Whether placed by Cambodia or not, attacking faith and heritage only exposes intolerance.
Both Thailand and Cambodia are Buddhist nations, yet history records repeated persecution of Hindu temples and attempts to erase them. Violence against sacred symbols cannot be whitewashed with slogans. No religion proves its βpeaceβ by destroying anotherβs faith.

The Thai militaryβs aggression against Cambodia has included the use of heavy artillery that damaged Buddhist temples, the bombing of Ta Krabei Temple and Preah Vihear Temple, and, most recently, the destruction of a statue of the god Vishnu. These sites are sacred places of worship and spiritual significance for Buddhists, Hindus, and followers of other faiths. For the true custodians of this heritage, witnessing such devastation brings profound sorrow and anguish beyond comparison. Those who are not the rightful owners, however, have shown no compassion for these religious structures or for the cultural and spiritual heritage they embody. They cheered and applauded while deliberately destroying and desecrating these sacred places of worship and religious faith. #ThailandViolatestheceasefire #India #Hindu #Buddhism
