Nobody is praying for their phone to get stolen, robbed or forgotten inside a Bolt, bus or somewhere public. 😭

But make I tell you something about this eSIM.

If your phone gets stolen and you’re using a physical SIM, the thief can remove that SIM, put it inside another phone and potentially receive your OTPs, SMS and calls, depending on your carrier and how well your accounts are secured.

With an eSIM phone, there’s no physical SIM card for them to simply remove and plug into another phone. That alone is an extra layer of protection.

And eSIM has other advantages too:

• No physical SIM to damage or lose
• You can use Dual SIM on supported phones
• Easy to switch between lines without changing SIM cards
• Very useful when travelling, you can add a travel eSIM without removing your main line
• No SIM tray means one less physical component to worry about
• You can store multiple eSIM profiles, depending on the device
• If your phone is stolen, your SIM isn’t sitting there physically exposed

BUT abeg, eSIM is not a magic anti-theft shield. 😂

Still use a strong passcode, enable Find My/Find My Device, protect your banking apps, enable 2FA where available and contact your network provider immediately if your phone gets stolen.

So if you’re still shouting:
