Wait so Kristi Noem’s podium at DHS is just a straight up Nazi slogan now?
"One of ours, all of yours" was a Nazi policy made when an SS officer was killed in a Czech Village and then the Nazis killed every single resident of that village in response…..but don’t you dare call them Nazis!
I get the nostalgia. A lot of what you describe is really a longing for trust, coherence, and breathing room, not a wish to rewind history.
But here’s the quiet truth that often gets lost: many of those “simpler days” felt simple largely because whole groups of people were invisible, ignored, or forced to stay silent. Food allergies existed, but kids just got sick or died. Violence existed, but it was normalized or underreported. LGBTQ people existed, but they hid, suffered, or paid a brutal price for being seen.
Families didn’t avoid breaking up over politics because politics were kinder, but because fewer voices were allowed at the table. What has changed isn’t human nature, but exposure. Technology didn’t invent chaos, it stripped away filters that once protected comfort at the expense of truth.
That’s uncomfortable, especially if you grew up on the safe side of those filters. The real challenge now isn’t to go backward, but to rebuild community with complexity, empathy, and responsibility, without letting outrage merchants hijack our attention.

Ignore what they say, and watch what they do.

Is it hypocritical that @ChickfilA doesn’t open to serve on Sunday but contracts companies to work on their parking lot on Sunday? I suppose it’s judgmental of me to be thinking it, but..
