Prepare, don't compare.
This week's video is about continuing to prepare for the most challenging thing I've ever done. Am I in the right shape? Am I ready? Can I do this?

Just months away from starting the AT something terrible happens.
Is the Appalachian Trail still going to happen or is it over?

This is my tent for my 2023 Appalachian Trail thru-hike. How easy is it to set up a Durston X-Mid 2 Solid tent for the first time? What if you've never set up a hiking pole tent before?

The preparation hikes (not preparation H) are beginning and I'm breaking in gear, trying out new...garments, and starting to get ready for my 2,190-mile adventure! How did the first hike go?

SO MUCH GEAR!!!! Finding what you need for an #appalachiantrail thru-hike can lead to overload. What does the gear pile look like when you have no experience??

Itโs been a rough last few weeks. A few days ago I would have said my Appalachian Trail hike for next year was not going to happen. Got my head on straight, figured out a way forward & today I registered with the @AT_Conservancy for my #atnobo2023!!
#OTD 85 years ago, the last portion of the #AppalachianTrail was built on a ridge between Spaulding and Sugarloaf mountains in Maine. The A.T. was officially connected through 14 states! Much of the original Trail has since been moved to more sustainable and protected locations.
