• FIVE major refineries gone in 5 years
• Benicia alone: 145k barrels/day = 8% of California’s gasoline — shutting 2026
• Valero: $1.1 BILLION loss to flee his CARB/cap-and-trade regs
• Now 60%+ foreign oil + Iran chaos = $8 gas incoming

I got a rejection letter from a hybrid publisher! If they would have accepted it, they would have charged me $12k. Their reasoning: two questionable examples from the first three pages and this comment "We are also concerned with the amount of AI used to shape and edit your manuscript."

They had asked and I was honest about using AutoCrit (beta readers) and InkShift (story analysis). Anyone that knows these tools, knows that the do not generate anything. I feel like I should have disclosed that I allowed Scrivener to point out spelling mistakes too.

I think self-publishing going to be my path forward.
