In 1982, Israel bombed the Beirut airport.
The Lebanese were trapped as the IDF marched into Beirut, massacring thousands of civilians.
Hezbollah didn’t exist.
My heart is heavy tonight going through instagram and whatsapp stories. Everyone I know in Lebanon lost someone today. Some lost entire families. Babies, mothers, sisters, brothers and friends. Gone. This is not a “war on Hezbollah”. This is a war on Lebanon and Lebanese people.
Born Lebanese means you’re either pushed into exile or left to live in fear and uncertainty. Either way, you’ll always wonder if you made the right choice. Because no amount of misery can ever mask this country’s beauty, & no amount of beauty will ever be enough to build a life.
Throughout history, Lebanon has always paid the price for others. We have always been the ones suffering and losing the most.
We don’t deserve any of this pain.
