The mystery dog, Lucky, is finally home.
He is now with his new family, living the life he should have always had….stable, loving, kind, and with the promise that he will never end up in a shelter again.
I don’t know how the universe always seems to connect Tracy’s Paws with such incredible people, but it does. We are especially grateful to his foster mom, Gwen, who saw our plea for help and immediately stepped in to make sure Lucky got out of the shelter safely. She cared for him, loved him, and gave us the time we needed to figure out the best plan for his future.
From the moment I saw that little “T” tattoo on his belly, I got a pit in my stomach. I knew one of our dogs was out there needing help, and I couldn’t stop thinking about him until we knew he was safe.
None of this would have been possible without all of you. Thank you to everyone who searched, shared, investigated leads, and helped us try to piece together Lucky’s story. We may never know exactly what happened to his original home, but what I do know is this:
Lucky is exactly where he belongs.
And in the end, that’s what matters most.
Lucky, I am so happy for you.
Gwen, his foster mom, you’re pretty awesome. Thank you for being the kind of person who changes a dog’s life. I appreciate you more than you know.
Some days in animal rescue can feel like you’re swimming in an ocean that never ends.
An ocean of suffering.
An ocean of need and heartbreak.
And yet somehow… we keep paddling forward.
The little puppy in this video is one of the dogs that came in yesterday matted and absolutely infested with fleas and ticks. Today, she is bathed, comfortable, safe, and on her way to being healed. Watching her do her little “swimming” motions made me smile because it feels a lot like rescue itself sometimes …just trying to keep swimming forward no matter how heavy things feel.
To everyone in animal rescue doing this for the right reasons …to truly reduce suffering, protect the vulnerable, and leave behind a kinder world for the next generation….please know your work matters.
There are days I have to lean heavily on my faith to continue doing what I do, and I often return to this reminder:
“Walk boldly, knowing that the light within you is evidence that I am with you.”
So if today feels heavy… keep swimming.
Keep believing.
Keep showing up.
Because every act of compassion changes the world for an animal who desperately needed someone to care.
