I think it is time for me to retire. I am 65 years old now and I have lived a full life with a decent legacy. I am proud of my child for following in my footsteps and I am excited to see what they do next as this chapter of Wisconsin Agriculture is ending. #ItWasAGoodRun#MKE70
We have reached a record low of wheat sales in Wisconsin. We are at 8.1 million bushels sold. It was not just a natural decline in growth. We’ve been outsold by competitors. Our reign as the wheat king will no longer continue and has not continued for a while now. #MKE70
If I want to keep working with grain…I might have to move with my family to Minnesota or North or South Dakota. I’m not sure it’s worth it anymore. I am getting old. I should discuss this with my family. #MKE70
I am sad to announce that Wisconsin soil isn’t doing what it has been doing in the past. We are slowly turning into America’s Dairyland as the fertility of the soil is declining fast. #cheese#MKE70
Thank you, @Alexand75158367 for believing in us grain traders and farmers. Thank you for giving us money to succeed and investing your money in us rather than in industrialists. We are not going to lose faith. #MKE70
Today it looks like there’s been a steady decrease in wheat sales the past three years. Today was the second highest day of wheat sales at 18.2 million bushels of wheat. There’s always next year with an opportunity for more! #MKE70
I will always remember the big storm of 1869 where we lost many lives and many products. @IncreaseLapham was the scientist that created the weather forecast in the efforts to predict/estimate the weather for the betterment of our lives. What a great man. Rest in peace. #MKE70
We have reached a new record of sales reaching 28.5 million bushels of wheat trade, record high! We are the number one salespeople of wheat in the United States. #mke70#wisconsin
Thank you, @IncreaseLapham, for the first storm weather forecast! I hope that this prevents sailors from being injured while transporting goods. Thank you so much. #mke70
We weren’t taken out by the storm, but most of us had cargo that was eaten by the storm. If only we could have prepared for this before the fact or just seen it coming…#WishfulThinking#mke70
The storm swept us as far North as Lake Michigan goes. Days went by that felt like years. During that time, we tried to save as many lives as possible during that unexpected storm. So many lives lost…my condolences to the families of the sailors lost during the storm. #mke70
I was on my way to sell grains when the boat I was on was swept Northeast towards the Lake Michigan-Huron meeting point, the Straits of Mackinac. We were just beginning to be caught in the storm…#mke70#LocalHistory
My father passed away in his sleep from old age. I loved him dearly. He was surrounded by loved ones the night of his death. He taught me all I know about grain trading. I will always thank him for that. #MKE70
After another hiatus taking care of my family, I am ready to be serious about my trading again. Milwaukee grain trading is bringing fame and honor to the city because we are the top selling competitor of grains. I knew we had it in us, let’s keep putting in the work! #MKE70
Look out for loved ones because you never know what could happen. Feeling very thankful for what I have today and what will come because I can feel the grain trading simmering and about to skyrocket. #mke70
Abraham Lincoln gave such an inspiring speech. I loved what he had to say. I am so moved by his speech that I am going to start teaching my eldest child how to be a grain trader and uphold the family business. #history#wisconsin#mke70
We are taxpayers that do not deserve to be left behind while other cities are making more money by having a faster railroad system @Alexand75158367. We must keep up because “‘time is money’ and the quickest route gets the business!” Merchants stand with me in solidarity. #mke70
Increase Lapham published an article on grass types and how they are essential to human life. Maybe while trading I’ll find different grass types that we haven’t heard of but might have in Wisconsin. #WannaBeScientist#mke70
(1842) - Took a short break from working the grain trades to meet the love of my life. We were lucky enough to have a baby. Hopefully one day my child will take over the family business. #blessed#mke70
