Al Gore says 2026 could be the year we “get serious” about climate change.

This is the same Al Gore whose 2006 film An Inconvenient Truth was found by scientists and a UK High Court judge to contain statements that departed from the scientific mainstream, including alarmist framing.

Gore now says: “We have all the technologies we need right now to reduce emissions by half in 10 years. We know how to do it. We’re gaining momentum, but we’re not moving fast enough.”

Track record check: the film’s CGI of a 20-foot sea-level rise drowning Manhattan, San Francisco, Shanghai and other cities was presented as a near-term prospect. The court noted that a full Greenland/West Antarctica melt of that scale would take millennia, not “the near future.”

Other timelines he amplified- rapid ice-free Arctic summers, Glacier National Park glaciers gone by 2020, Kilimanjaro snow disappearing on a short clock, did not occur as framed.

Whenever public skepticism about anthropogenic climate change occurs, the same high-profile messengers like Al Gore and Greta get rolled out.
