Reports from the scene indicate that the driver was travelling along the R102 when he allegedly lost control of his vehicle before crashing into the centre median.

KZN VIP emergency teams responded to the scene following reports of the collision. The circumstances leading up to the crash cannot be confirmed at this stage and will be subject to further investigation by the relevant authorities. No injuries were reported at the scene.

Motorists are once again urged to exercise extreme caution on the roads and to never operate a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or any substance that may impair their ability to drive safely.

Midlands EMS crews were dispatched to the R622 in Mooi River for a serious motor vehicle accident.

On arrival at the scene, emergency crews found that a single vehicle had been involved in the accident, with 3 occupants sustaining critical injuries.

It is believed that the passengers had been travelling in the back of the bakkie when the vehicle was involved in the accident, resulting in them being ejected from the vehicle.

All 3 patients were assessed by paramedics and found to be in a critical condition, requiring urgent advanced life support treatment at the scene.

Due to the severity of their injuries, advanced life support interventions were carried out before the patients were transported to hospital for further medical care.

1 patient was placed on a manual ventilator and required assisted ventilation while being transported to hospital.

All 3 patients were treated extensively on scene before being transported to hospital under the care of emergency medical personnel.

The exact circumstances leading up to the accident are unknown at this stage.

Authorities were in attendance and will investigate the incident further.

Duma extends his condolences to the mothers who have lost their children on Women’s Day

On this Women’s Day, we wish to express our deepest condolences to the mother of Scebi Dlamini, a popular Maskandi artist who left us this morning in a tragic accident.

The accident occurred at the robot opposite Melomed Hospital in Richards Bay.

The team from Road Traffic Inspectorate, Umhlathuze Traffic, working with the South African Police Service and other emergency rescue services did everything in their power, but unfortunately Inkosi Yamagcokama succumbed to severe injuries and died at the scene of the accident.

One of the three occupants who were taken to the hospital has unfortunately departed. We express our deepest condolences to the mother of the occupant, and we wish those two other victims a speedy recovery.

At this stage, we wish to confirm that the accident is now handled by the SAPS accident unit.

They are better placed and equipped to investigate the cause of this horrific accident.

The RTI and all categories of staff in both the department of transport and human settlements have joined Maskandi lovers in mourning the sad departure of Inkosi Yamagcokama.

Inkosi Yamagcokama has been an invaluable asset to the nation. He was a remarkable artist who carved for himself a niche in the hearts and minds of millions of Maskanda music lovers.

He was admired for his humility and for putting Umsinga on the map. As we mourn with a deep sense of sadness his passing, we are confident that his legacy will inspire many aspiring Maskandi to improve this genre, which is growing in leaps and bounds.
