Japan scored the winner after Iceland were temporarily reduced to 10 men.
A new FIFA rule requires substituted players to leave the pitch at the nearest point within 10 seconds.
Fail to do so, and the incoming substitute must wait a full minute before entering.
The rule was introduced to reduce time-wasting and speed up substitutions.
But this is one of the first major moments where it has directly changed the outcome of a match.
Do you like this rule?
A lot of talented players lose confidence when football gets more serious…
Not because they’re not good enough. But because pressure changes everything.
That’s why environment matters 🫶
Behind the World Cup winner was a man learning to speak, feel and grow 🌱
🗣️”You start to express yourself, to talk to someone about what’s happening to you, what you feel, what you do on a daily basis, and what happens to me when I feel that way.”
🗣️ “I started with coaching in group sessions, and then we met to do individual sessions. It helped me a lot to develop awareness; I started feeling much better over time, and today I can’t give it up.”
🗣️ “I’m taking this opportunity to tell kids to be aware that there’s a solution for everything, that they can talk to professionals. Many times, fear and anxiety prevent you from fully expressing yourself. I think it’s a very important part not just of being happy, but of enjoying life.

Harry Kane says he deliberately had his penalty saved against Atalanta in Bayern's 4–1 Champions League win.
After the match he said he'd studied goalkeeper Sportiello on video beforehand and knew the keeper habitually creeps off his line. So Kane hit a central, catchable shot on purpose, got it saved, then immediately turned to the referee pointing out that Sportiello had left his line early.
The retake was awarded. On the second attempt, with Sportiello now rattled and expecting another trick, Kane simply picked a corner and buried it. "The tactic paid off," he said afterwards.
