@ChimeWhistle Can also because a carriage length is longer, on 172s we used to operate a 2 car /0 and /1 between LMS and NUN, we had a 2 car 172/2 and the announcements would say this train is longer than usual.
Our latest passenger rail performance stats show that:
3.5% of trains were cancelled between April 2025 and March 2026, down 0.6 percentage points compared with the previous year.

@AshValeCommuter I think you were really supposed to put in what you were likely to pay for your ticket so like you say you couldn’t put 5p in for a £30 ticket as that’s not an intention to pay,
Thanks to @MattNixson & @Daily_Express 4 letting me flag the abject failure of all those involved to get the Oxford/Bletchley East West Rail passenger service to pull out of the station 2 years after the line was 1st completed.Sign/share petition:https://t.co/ZooNbJ29Zf
Cleaners only have 8 minutes to clean an entire train - because they're employed by outsourcing companies that put profits ahead of workers and passengers.
@philatrail It’s also interesting to note that our 172s at WMR are also included seems bizzare as the Snow Hill routes have had significant underinvestment for years in infrastructure and beyond hartlebury to Worcester is a mix of semaphore and colour light.
@twloat There’s a shortage of units across the WMR group, New street only sign 196s as diesel traction (as far as I’m aware), 172s are vital for us on the routes via BSW.
@thebestmarklee@GTRailUK@SouthernRailUK I worked the last WMR service when we changed to DfT. No fanfare or anything, a couple of people taking photos but I asked for messages to be put on station screens but this wasn’t done.
@DMouse101@Se_Railway Could also be a DOO service as southern regions services are. When on javelin high speed once that is DOO. Imagine the driver dying when you’re travelling 140MPh.
