Can the Wings get out of this and be a contender?
Possibly.
Larkin to NJ, where the Devils can use him to complete the Hughes trifecta, for Hischier.
Compher plus Danielson and a 2nd for Pettersson.
Kasper Pettersson Raymond
Debrincat Hischier Kane
Finnie Copp Brandsegg-Nygard
Mazur Rasmussen Appleton
L1 - maybe the skilled line. Kasper provides some agitation.
Hischier is the best 2C the Wings have had since Datsyuk and Zetterberg centered different lines.
L3 - a couple kids led by the old goat Copp.
L4 - An identity line - and McLellan has to emphasize that. For all the love Mclellan gets, Lalonde was better and had a good, hard-working fourth line.
Detroit should have traded Larkin 5-6 years ago. But, at least, he's got a marketable contract. I think he's still in his 20s for a couple more weeks.
The question is, does Yzerman use it to dive in the standings and draft one of the young Cs in the 27 draft, or does he simply try to replace Larkin (like, with Hischier) and pretend like somehow, Detroit can make the playoffs next season with Florida rejoining the playoff field (good luck).
Yzerman made Drouin wait a year and a half before accommodating his trade request in TB
Itโs vital to get a solid package for him
How bad does he want out?
I get the NTC.. but deadline 27, think of the line of suitors that would love Larkin as 2C down the stretch/playoffs
@GrindLinePod Especially when you realize Florida returns to form and the Wings weren't gonna make the playoffs anyway. Might as well tank and get a top 5 pick
@Marrv1277@jschmels@JCSportsDetroit I'd love that deal, but Columbus wouldn't do it.
Too much to give up, considering I'm not sure they'd do Larkin for Fantilli straight up
