The fact that this guidance requires trans people to continually out themselves just to use the toilet is ghastly and runs contrary to the whole approach of the Gender Recognition Act. It will put trans people at much greater risk of violence and harm. You knew this would be the case @bphillipsonMP but you persisted regardless, that is shameful.

Outside Twitter and the right wing media, most people support this as a right and very few people oppose you. Companies aren’t interested in stopping you.

LGBTQIA+ people are ending their lives.
Not as a statistic. As people. As children. As someone’s son or daughter or sibling who woke up one morning and decided the world had made it clear enough times that there was no place in it for them.
Trans children are one percent of the UK population and seven percent of child suicides. Gay and bisexual young people are significantly more likely to attempt suicide than their straight peers. Bisexual people show some of the highest rates of mental health crisis of any group in this country.
This is happening in a country that used to be ranked number one in Europe for LGBTQIA+ rights.
A gay Health Secretary removed transgender healthcare.
A Prime Minister promised to ban conversion therapy and has not banned it. Conversion therapy is not therapy. It is abuse. It is still legal here. Gay children are being subjected to it right now. Lesbian teenagers. Bisexual young people. Transgender children. All of them being told by adults that who they are needs to be fixed.
An author is using wealth built from books sold to children to fund legal campaigns that are contributing to those children’s deaths when they grow up LGBTQIA+.
These are not separate issues. They are the same issue. They are the systematic removal of the message that our community belongs here.
And when you remove that message consistently enough, loudly enough, with enough money and legal power and political cover behind it, some people believe it.
Some of them act on it.
Some of them do not survive it.
We were number one in Europe for our rights. We were promised a ban on the practices that torture our children. We were promised healthcare. We were promised protection.
We got none of it.
LGBTQIA+ people are ending their lives.
