Canada is at an inflection point.
At the 21st Annual Calgary Energy Roundtable Conference, @TransMtn CEO Mark Maki shared a compelling perspective on energy as a lever for trade diversification - and why the window of opportunity is now.
He highlighted Canada’s advantage: a clear path to Asian markets without the same geopolitical bottlenecks seen elsewhere, and a very real case for diversifying oil exports toward Asia.
But opportunity alone isn’t enough.
To grow and diversify trade, we need to move forward with critical infrastructure including investments in pipelines and ports.
This is about more than energy – it’s about advancing a national goal to grow and diversify Canada’s trade.

At the @CalgaryChamber today, Jennifer Pierce, @TransMtn CAO, discussed what has to be true for Canada to build the next generation of energy infrastructure.
As Prime Minister Carney noted in recent days, Canada has a real opportunity to get major projects moving with greater clarity and ambition and is taking steps to better align policy, regulation and execution.
We need to challenge ourselves. That’s how we build bigger. Faster. And for the long term.
