New data obtained by the Deportation Data Project confirms what immigrant communities have been living through all year: ICE's crackdown has nothing to do with public safety, and everything to do with fear.

In July, ICE made a record 49,000 arrests. The agency is now averaging 1,600 arrests a day.

But look at who's actually being swept up. Less than 4% of those arrested had a violent criminal conviction. The majority weren't charged with any crime at all.

These are real people. People married to U.S. citizens. People with pending asylum cases and claims, following the legal process exactly as it's supposed to work.

The number of people living in unsafe, unsanitary detention centers has climbed back up to 66,000. Deportation flights hit a record 329 in July alone.

This is a machine of horror built to terrorize our neighbors, our coworkers, our family members. And it is expanding by design.
