In an interview, while speaking about the Bevington Festival of the Arts, my dad said: Art was everywhere, with us every day of the week and every hour of the day. It is not something esoteric or removed from ordinary life. It is part of the culture.
Throughout the years I have spent at Idylease, I have learned that hen it comes to renovations, what appears simple rarely is. In time, you come to understand that the work takes longer than you first thought. Old buildings have a way of speaking, if you learn how to listen.
A decade ago, I quietly assumed the responsibility of caring for Idylease: A Historic Landmark Hotel. My father did the same before me. In ways I didn’t understand at the time, we shared the belief that it is ours to care for, not to own.
When the lights came down, I let go of whatever expectations I had carried with me.
I stopped trying to interpret it.
I just watched.
There’s a moment in the play where Linda says,
“Attention must be paid.”
The line landed differently this time.

Idylease Tree Farm is comprised of over 100 acres of land, with more than 10,000 trees in the ground. Richard Zampella is pictured here in the forest at Idylease maintaining the tree stands pursuant to Dept of Agriculture Forestry Standards.
Idylease serves as a designated landing pad for medical evacuation helicopters. The airfield is Owned/Operated by Richard Zampella. Essentially, Idylease acts as a specific area for emergency helicopter landing and takeoff for transporting patients to trauma centers.
Richard Zampella has over 30 years of experience in the hospitality and food service industry. He managed the Oak Room at The Plaza Hotel in New York City and Served as Food & Beverage Manager at The Essex House Hotel on Central Park South.

Saddened to have learned of the passing of Patrick Hemingway who was #ErnestHemingway’s last surviving son. Dinner at Sardis, drinks at the Yale Club or our time spent at the JFK Library in Boston, #PatrickHemingway was nothing short of the most gracious of human beings.
