@MarinaMedvin It is of course horrible when taken in isolation, as terror should never be condoned...but would there be Hamas terrorists if those who came to Israel, especially after WW2, had stayed in their countries of origin instead of taking over somebody else's land, or gone elsewhere?

@lambeth_council They may not pay you, as they seem cash strapped. They are an uncaring lot who demanded £65 for an infraction that was an honest and obvious mistake, so I can only assume that they need the cash and may not be able to pay for extra services...could be a scam...

Is the Lambeth council so poor that they need an extra measly £65 pounds from someone who had to drive to London exceptionally on the day when the trains were on strike? It is not like I was driving a Bentley in a bus lane to avoid traffic...what a shame!

@lambeth_council I agree with this heartless officer, but I explained the circumstances, in which it was not my intention to break a rule I had not seen, I did not get any advantage by doing it, and paying the fine will almost double the unavoidable work expense I had to incur on that day...

@lambeth_council I made an appeal to this ridiculous PCN, but a heartless officer replied that it was 'unfortunate that you were unfamiliar with the bus lane and the times it is in force. However, it is still up to drivers to be
aware of bus lane (and other) signs and obey them'.

@lambeth_council Furthermore, there was no traffic on the other lanes, so I did not gain any advantage by using the bus lane. I just thought that I was not doing anything wrong by using that lane, as I had been using bus lanes throughout my necessary trip to London on the strike day.

I had somehow to guess that this particular council didn't allow bikes on its bus lanes, because whatever panel they had was either obscured by a bus or I was concentrating on traffic at the time I passed the panel.

What a shameful council, probably one of the richest in London, imposing a fine for using a bus lane on an unsuspecting biker who had been forced to go for the first time to London by bike due to the train strike on 7th May 2024...
