Former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle have teamed up with American streamer IShowSpeed to bring Ghana’s independence story to the screen in a documentary called The Eyes of Ghana.
The film follows Chris Hesse, the Ghanaian cameraman who filmed the country’s independence in 1957 and key moments involving its first president, Kwame Nkrumah.
Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Ben Proudfoot, it draws on footage from more than 1,300 reels that Hesse kept for decades.
The Obamas are executive producers through Higher Ground Productions, and IShowSpeed is also listed as a producer.
Bernice Johnson Reagon, founder of The Freedom Singers & Sweet Honey in the Rock, has died at 81. A singer & composer, Reagon provided a gospel soundtrack for the Civil Rights Movement & continued her work as a scholar & activist.

@MsMcCollumAP The conference was awesome. I didn't see your presentation, as there were so many good ones to attend. #ASCD knocked it out of the park this year!
@MsMcCollumAP I am not surprised. You are an awesome leader with a heart so big for everyone. Congratulations, Ms. McCollum. I am jumping for joy. I miss you at WC. I am truly grateful for our time together. The learning has not stopped growing from the seeds you planted.
