@KevinOConnor Respectfully, it wasnโt wasted. We only acquired Zubac bc the potential of the pick being 5/6 incentived the Clippers. We werenโt resigning Mathurin, needed a championship caliber center and RC wouldnโt have played the 5th pick.
I'm really sorry to all our fans. I own taking this risk. Surprised it came up 5th after this year. I thought we were due some luck. But please remember - this team deserved a starting center to compete with the best teams next year. We have always been resilient.
@DamienPetersNBA As a Pacers fan, I wouldโve much rather us have tried this season to make the play-in with a chance of getting a top pick versus being forced to tank like we did.
@KevinOConnor@YahooSports Until there is an incentive to win, none of these proposals will stop tanking. Even without the incentive of increased odds, teams will have no incentive to risk injuries, etc. without any upside.
@mcuban Mark, this is simple economics. So long as there is no incentive to WIN, teams will not sacrifice long-term gain to win in a given season. Assume uniform lottery odds, why would a team like the Pacers, Wizards, etc. this year risk mileage/injury on player for no benefit?
