Last week my grandfather got into a severe car accident, went into a coma and suffered extreme brain damage along with other injuries. He unfortunately couldn’t make it and passed away yesterday in the hospital. My weekend in a nutshell. I was retained as a building consultant for a law firm in Dallas. I was inspecting a nursing home called San Jacinto Manor in Deer Park, TX. No power or HVAC since 2023 due to tornado damage. Mold throughout the building and debris everywhere. Was also told about the building being haunted. Busted 2 men stealing copper from the building on Saturday all alone. Made them sit and wait for the cops and told them if they confront me I was prepared to fight. They sat on the ground until the cops arrived and were arrested. While copper was being stolen for 2 years, I was the first person to catch the thieves to my knowledge.

The next day I inspected the property alone. Went in through a locked gate and had the code to get in. An hour into my inspection, 4 cops ordered me out of the building with guns drawn. They screamed at me even though I let them know I am compliant and an expert for the arbitration panel. The cops did not believe me. They immediately cuffed me and pushed me against a chain link fence. They asked for ID after I was cuffed to which I responded, “How would you like me to show you ID when you have me cuffed”. I complained that the cuffs were too tight, but they didn’t care. Thank God that the 2 cops showed up on the scene from the day before. They looked shocked I was in cuffs and said I was a representative of the building owner. Cops let me go with no apologies for their actions. They said that have to call them if I am on the property. I let them know I don’t need to call them because I have permission from the owner and attorneys. Cops had no warrant and I felt completely violated. @deerparkpolice . Do better
