@5ReasonsSports@Birdey954theWin They are barely in position to get giannis now and if a team like SA or OKC or Houston. Decides they want him they can easily throw together a better offer, then the Heat have to hope Giannis sticks to his guns about staying east
@Alf954 Itโs crazy how some podcasters keep trying to convince us that this FO can figure it out because they were able to do in 2004, they pretend 20yrs havenโt went by and that they were great in the Jimmy years.
Iโd be okay with getting Giannis. But letโs be real: a lot of this hype is because it gets clicks. The team still builds like itโs the โ90s/2000s. We donโt have a young talent anywhere near Wadeโs level, and weโd have to unload every asset to get Giannis. Heโd make us relevant, just like Pierce, Garnett, and Johnson made the Nets relevant. The problem is that run lasted one year, ended in the 2nd round, and Brooklyn spent the next decade paying for it.
The alternative is trusting your scouting department to find the next breakout star, like OKC did with Shai or the Knicks did with Brunson. Maybe Jaylin Williams is that guy. Iโm not paid to find him, but Iโd rather bet on youth and upside than overpay for someone leaving their prime.
@hottakeharry A part of me hopes Portland gives up the farm for him he stays one yr doesnโt sign the extension and signs as a free agent with Miami, we keep our young talent and then build around Giannis next summer
@RoyalAShepherd I wouldnโt be mad. This is the downside of giving up too much for a star. No young players, no assets, no cap spaceโso now youโre forced to fill the roster with aging vets and chase names instead of talent.
