After tearing his ACL last season, three-time Pro Bowl TE Zach Ertz officially has been cleared for all football activities and wants to play this season. He was at Stanford today catching balls from his college QB, Andrew Luck. Ertz is expected to be ready to sign in mid-August. Ertz had 116 catches for 1,158 yards and 11 TDs over the past two seasons, including a 10-catch, 106-yard performance vs Denver in his final full game last season.

@stonedbaseball @timkawakami Yeah, that’s a good excuse in the first month of the season. He’s mismanaged the bullpen. His players aren’t taking walks. He has a love affair with a subpar OF in Gilbert. He mismanages both vets and young players. What part of this is hard for you to understand?

Stanford DC Kris Richard will run a 4-3 base here. It’s a 4-3 under adapted from Monte Kiffin which runs cover 1 and 3 while orchestrating 2 gap tech and 1 gap attacks. I call it a “soft” which resembles a 4-3 base with 3-4 elements. Lighter edges and a Leo hybrid at times.
