Just an average guy who likes country music, watching extreme weather, relax, and hates his job. Going back to school for my degree in Environmental Science.
@BradyBGWX Sounds fairly sleety here. Don't want to get up and look with the dog sleeping next to me on the couch, and the rain fuzzed the window up good in the wind too.
@Mighty__Muffins@NWSAlbany They were right about it beginning to calm down after 2am. Doesn't sound nearly as loud, but it's blowing frozen precip into my picture window now.
@JoeMartWx@BigJoeBastardi 4/8 and 4/9/2000 pop up there. Here in Albany it was 76° late on the 8th and 13.3" of snow fell on the 9th mostly in the pre-dawn period after 5 or 6 hours of torrential rain. I fell asleep as the rain stopped pounding on the roof expecting only maybe 2"-4" of snow.
@burgwx Don't forget April 9, 2000 and May 18, 2002. Not as warm the day before in 2002, but it was 76 the evening of the 8th of April 2000 at sunset only to wake up to 13" on the 9th.
@epawawx People are treating it like gambling. Like if Devonta Smith goes off for 60 fantasy points one week everybody jumps on him the next week expecting the same results when he dropped 60 on the Jets but next week is against the Seahawks. Set up was there one week, but different next.
@VermonsterWx@Eweather13 Yup, December 16-17, 2020, December 1-3, 2019, January 3-5, 2003, and Christmas 2002. Valentine's and St Patrick's 2007 came close to the 20"+ club along with January 6-7, 2001. Can't think of others without researching again.
@VermonsterWx@Eweather13 Haven't had a two foot plus here since 1993, but we came close about 3 or 4 times. I could use that 20"er this winter though. Islip being ahead of us doesn't sit well, and would be even worse stewing through a moderate to strong El Niño winter next year.
@BenNollWeather@grok Could this sudden stratospheric warming lead to multiple snowy Nor'easters like the February sudden stratospheric warming in February 2018 did?
@VermonsterWx This one is taking years off me. All that cold we had, and now we're barely on the outside looking in on "Thee Storm" of the winter. Midatlantic has their year ending in 6 rule, we have the 7's with 10/4/87, 3/31/97, 2/14/07, and 3/14/17.
