Palash is flowering, salai is flowering.
Salai, boswellia serrata, is used in medicines to cure joint pain and inflammation. Elephants seem to know this; they consume salai.
The Palash and Salai are full of bees, a delight to witness. Please go see them.
Not a deciduous but an evergreen tree, Gaub or Diospyros malabarica, also flaunts with its new flush of pinkish red leaves these days.
Can be seen in Nehru Park and other gardens of Delhi.
What a sight to behold on a Sunday morning-
blue water lilies blooming in @sundernursery
"neeli kumudini" "neelkamal"
The bottom row shows the lilies at 8 AM, before the sunrays reached them.
As the sunrays lit up the blue beauties - they bloomed, and how!
(The pink lilies open up in early morning light; the blue/purple ones need a stronger sun)

A dust laden day like this is a warning signal. It calls for serious introspection on impacts of deforestation, unregulated construction & excessive concretisation. Sustainable urban planning, strict enforcement of regulations & ecological restoration is the need of the hour!
I’ve been under the weather since Saturday, but this giant fig tree dropping fruit on the roof of my balcony and the ground below has been therapeutic. #Delhi#TreesofDelhi#figs#nature
The most curious bird that first comes out of the woodworks when it hears the sound of a collared owlet (often played by nature guides to attract flocks of little warblers) is the Green-tailed Sunbitd. The bright yellow and green beauty titters & twitters & remonstrates loudly!
From Varun it became Barna.
It’s a sacred tree and worshiped in many part of the country.
One can see Barna trees laden with whitish, creamy, yellowish flowers these days.

On sacred day of #MahavirJayanti, citizens gathered for a prayer meeting with @AravalliBachao to honour nature and to protect trees & forests under threat across the country.
May we follow the path of ahimsa not just towards humans but towards all living beings🙏🌳
