We finally got around to adding a grille guard to our van. We had one on our previous van and really liked having it.

With all the travel we do, especially in rural areas of the country, we feel like we have been pressing our luck by not having some protection up front.

The baby swallows we have been following at Enchanted Rock are growing fast! They look like little versions of their adult selves now.

We climbed Turkey Peak at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area for a whole new perspective on the rock and surrounding area. And we just kept hiking after we came down! We ended with about 6.5 miles, after checking out quartz deposits, lots of flowers, and a little trail friend.

When out for an early evening hike at Enchanted Rock, you might hear the yips and howls of the resident coyote population. Very cool to hear them.

Brand new baby birds! The swallows that built a nest in the corner of one of the state park bathroom buildings had their eggs hatch very recently. I'm not sure exactly when, but I'm estimating the babies are just days old. They still have their eyes closed!

Perspective is important! The first picture looks a bit like a forest growing in a mountain range somewhere.

But zooming in, you realize it's small plants growing out of a large granite rock.

We saved a baby this weekend while hiking! OK, it was just a baby doll, but anyone who has watched Toy Story knows this doll needed to be rescued from being a lost toy! 😱🥺😄
