Almost done voicing my script for my ‘The Current State Of The Neptunia Community’ which will undoubtedly be my last video discussing the franchise overall. I’m at a point in my life where I’ve realized I don’t want to keep pouring so much time and energy into something that I’ve increasingly grown distant from. I’ll always have a certain appreciation for what Neptunia meant to me over the years, and there are still aspects of the series that I genuinely love, but I think it’s finally time to close this chapter and move on.
This isn’t me pretending the franchise never mattered to me, nor is it some dramatic declaration that I suddenly hate everything about it. It’s simply me recognizing that my interests, priorities, and perspective have changed. I’ve spent years talking about this series, analyzing it, criticizing it, defending certain aspects of it, and perhaps most importantly watching its community evolve into something I no longer feel particularly interested in being a part of.
So rather than endlessly repeating the same conversations, arguments, and criticisms, I’d rather say what I have to say one final time and leave it there. Whatever comes after this, I want it to be on my own terms and focused on things that genuinely excite me again.
Neptunia was a significant part of my life for a long time. I don’t need to deny that just because I’ve outgrown it. Sometimes moving forward simply means knowing when a chapter has run its course.
It’s funny to know that I still live rent free in some people’s heads still. That’s a level of emotional investment I could only dream of achieving. At that point, I’m not even sure whether I should be flattered or concerned. If I’m supposedly that irrelevant, you’d think you’d have better things to occupy your mind with.
Here's the head of the final piece, I decided to give it a small blur to give that "old anime TV show" aesthetic And a slight vignette to frame the head. I personally feel deleting the parka and giving attention to the head was the right call 😭
I love hearing people tell me that they enjoy the route I’ve taken with my nep fic so far. Just goes to show that taking a different approach and being willing to step outside the usual formula can really pay off. I’m genuinely glad that the changes I’ve made to the story, characters, and overall direction are resonating with people. It makes all the time and effort I’ve put into developing this version of the story feel completely worth it.
I am fully confident in saying that my Neptunia fanfiction is going to be one of the best forms of storytelling in a nep story or game thus far. May take me a while to write most of the chapters since I want my story to have genuine substance rather than simply being nothing more than cringe filler as most nep fics are.
I plan on breaking away from the norm of the series by adding in themes that the devs would otherwise never touch, such as sci-fi/urban fantasy, supernatural, mystery, psychological drama, etc. The setting itself presents endless possibilities. The existence of the goddesses including alternate counterparts, a new villain organization, and the existence of an unexplained phenomena that turns humans into supernatural beings.
My story simply pushes those ideas further, asking what happens when unexplained supernatural forces collide in ways that challenge everything the characters thought they understood about their world.
Rather than using these elements purely for spectacle, I want them to enrich the narrative. Every element I include is there to deepen the world’s lore, raise meaningful questions, or shape the characters’ journeys. The goal is to create a story that feels expansive and unpredictable while remaining faithful to the heart of Neptunia itself: a world where humor, friendship, and hope continue to shine even in the face of extraordinary circumstances.
