National Unemployment Data Discrepancy

Unemployment increased in 28 states (61.8% of the population) from November to December 2023.

However, https://t.co/EJZ9Yf7kd8 listed National unemployment at 3.7% during those same months, reporting no change.

Methodology: I simply compared the BLS state data for December 2023 vs November 2023. The numbers displayed are the unemployment rates reported by each state. Of potential interest @unusual_whales. At all, feel free to share or use this data as you wish.

The BLS methodology for national numbers vs state may be the reason for the discrepancy but the data remains.

The BTFP expires in March. It's not a certainty we'll see an event but it's a banking test and lenders are already set to face challenges.

The Feds have held this view since last March. I don't even think its fair to say its feathering the nest or front running things. They've been very plain about their view.
