Come work with us!! We’re looking to hire an associate who is a 0-7 year call. We do amazing work, have incredible people, and @DanielBrownLaw makes a mean cappuccino. Feel free to DM me directly with any questions about the position. https://t.co/BT631QZ4eG
What a loss. It's hard to overstate the contribution that Alan Young made to criminal justice in Canada. Thank you, professor Young. Your legacy will live on through the lives of all of those whose wrongful convictions you played a part in overturning.
Important case that may come to the @SCC_eng. The power in R. v. Ladouceur to randomly stop vehicles without suspicion of an offence was codified in Quebec statute. That statute was found unconstitutional by Quebec's highest appellate court.
We have a packed house! On now:

Thanks to @AnneMarieAMK and @YourMorning for having me on today to discuss when a young person can be sentenced as an adult, an issue before the Supreme Court of Canada this week.
It's me, hi, I'm the Chief Justice, it's me. We had a lively discussion with the Chief Justice of the @ONCA_en (not pictured), @SujLee_, and @TrevinDavid talking about s. 9, street checks, and racial profiling.
“I’m a middle-aged Black man. I’ve got all of these degrees, I’ve won cases at the Supreme Court – and I still go to places where I’m viewed as less than, where I’m presumed to be the defendant, or presumed to be dangerous, just because of the way I appear. And that’s a heavy burden,” says lawyer and racial justice advocate Bryan Stevenson.
“I can tell you, because I’m getting older, that when you’re constantly navigating these presumptions of dangerousness and guilt, it’s exhausting.”
Congratulations to @Nader_Hasan_law and @alexheine93 for successfully defending the presumption of innocence in the Zameer case. This case was a tragedy, but anyone with knowledge of the evidence knows this wasn’t a murder.
A fantastic way to start of the week! We're honoured to be recognized alongside so many fantastic criminal defence firms across Canada. https://t.co/6Iko70CUhj
I recently spoke with CBC's @thomasdaigle about Nathaniel Veltman's sentencing hearing, the value of victim impact statements in sentencing & whether a finding his actions were "terrorist activity" would affect his sentence (or parole).
