NEW: The mega-rich are using the Iran war to get even richer.
The Iran war has cost Americans $72 billion and shot up gas prices by 50%. Corporate executives are price-gouging, rigging investments, and trading on insider information to cash in on the crisis.
This is warflation.
Older generations say, “We also struggled in our 20s.”
No, you didn’t. You didn’t pay rent that consumes half your entire paycheck. You didn’t work 2 jobs just to cover basics. You didn’t apply to 200 jobs and face silent rejections. Gen Z isn’t dramatic. They’re drowning.
Neil deGrasse Tyson: “Whatever [the next outbreak] is, we ain’t ready for it. We still have anti-vaxxers running around.”
“I don’t trust scientists. I saw a YouTube video, so I’m not going to take it.” (mocking)
“I don’t want you to ever forget this story.”
“20,000 years ago, we’re in the cave. Do you know what the life expectancy was?”
Shannon Sharpe: “10 years? 15 years?”
Neil deGrasse Tyson: “30. Half of everyone born was dead before they were 30.”
Shannon Sharpe: “Wow!!!”
Neil deGrasse Tyson: “Fast forward to 1840… everyone born in the world was dead by the age of 35. We gained five years of life expectancy. And every one of them ate organic, breathed clean air… Science matters here.”
“We’ve doubled the life expectancy with antibiotics, vaccines, and sanitation. The three biggest forces operating on our longevity. So to come around and say I don’t need vaccines because I’m not getting sick, that’s like saying, why are you using dandruff shampoo? You don’t have dandruff.”
Shannon Sharpe: “Well, I don’t want to get it.”
Neil deGrasse Tyson: “That’s my point. If you’re successful, people think you don’t need it when that’s what’s creating the ongoing success in the first place.”
There was a time where people would get signed based off of their talent before there was a fanbase … and the team + label would develop the artist and build the fanbase from the start.
A&R used to actually mean something
pgLang signed an artist, developed her for years behind the scenes, dropped her debut off-cycle on a Tuesday, and used the signing announcement as a promotional vehicle. This approach is so rare it's breaking people's brains 😂
“People get used to anything. The less you think about your oppression, the more your tolerance for it grows. After a while, people just think oppression is the normal state of things. But to become free, you have to be acutely aware of being a slave.” -Assata Shakur
Tuesday, not Friday. Been saying this for years! Off-cycle releases are ideal for new and developing acts. Weekday conversation generates greater word of mouth with less competition and noise. pgLang gets it.
You know what the funniest part about this is? The whole fear they've had about expanding MARTA is this whole fairytale about homeless having more access to areas outside of 285 but gentrification is pushing them into those areas already.
It's wild to me that people can work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, for 60 years and still argue this is the best system humanity can come up with, while defending people who make their entire net worth in 30 seconds and insisting they shouldn't be taxed more.
i think health insurance companies should be charged with murder if they intentionally deny a patient a lifesaving medication or procedure. if they want to act like doctors, they need to face the consequences. if a healthcare provider does that, we can lose our licenses.
She chewed this hard but every woman i know with two brain cells to rub together including myself has been beating her pot with her wooden spoon shouting these sentiments and it’s been shown time and time again that these mfs know this they just don’t give a damn
NEW: Cancer rates in Iowa are rising faster than anywhere else in the country.
Politicians blame individual choices, but the real villain is the industrial farming covering the state.
We went, tested the water, and found cancer causing levels of chemicals running through Iowa.
We’re in final stage of capitalism where global capital can’t expand or sustain past profits. It’s now consuming public institutions and key systems, sacrificing democracy, welfare, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and ecosystems for short-term gain.
