After completing our first week of summer camp this morning, I was fortunate to join Coach Price and four of our DAWGs in serving meals to the homeless at Dining With Dignity in St. Augustine.
It was a humbling experience and a powerful reminder of the importance of giving back to those less fortunate. Coach Price and I could not be more proud of these young men, who chose to serve others selflessly after a long and demanding week of camp.
Being a DAWG is about more than what happens on the football field. It is about developing character, leadership, gratitude, and a servant’s heart. Today, these four young men represented our program with class and reminded us all what it truly means to be a DAWG.
After a strong first week of spring practice, finishing in full pads and recognizing thirteen new DAWGs, now alongside twenty-one, plus five players with 100% offseason weight room attendance, you’ve set the tone.
Two current upcoming seniors, offensive player Alex Winkles and defensive player Trey Butt were also recognized for being our most consistent DAWGs throughout training camp so far.
As you prepare for week two with proper rest and nutrition, commit to an honest self-evaluation. Identify where you excelled and where you must improve. The goal is simple: become the best version of yourself.
The DAWG program is built on three pillars: Conduct, Commitment, and Drive. Embrace them. Demonstrate them both on and off the field. The only comparison that matters is who you were yesterday.
Great teams aren’t led by coaches alone, they’re driven by players who hold themselves and each other accountable. Iron sharpens iron. Your actions set the standard, and others will follow.
Now it comes down to consistency. Consistent execution, discipline, and accountability. That’s what drives continuous improvement.
Don’t just show up, attack the week with purpose and a mindset to get better every day.
The standard is high. Live it daily. Be the DAWG.
Five weeks into the PV Sharks preseason strength training program, more than 100 players have committed to training alongside their teammates four days a week. This past week, the coaching staff recognized the DAWGs of the Month—athletes who have consistently demonstrated and fully embraced the DAWG Pillars of Success. This standard is designed not only to develop better football players, but also stronger teammates, responsible classmates, and leaders within the community.
The following players were recognized: Adam Berquist, Sean Hassan, Trey Butts, Trent Player, and Alexander Winkles. These athletes set the standard through their discipline, commitment, and grit. Their daily actions—often in the unseen hours—reflect what it truly means to be a DAWG. Keep pushing, stay consistent, and continue to raise the bar for yourselves and your teammates.
DAWGs help establish and set the team’s standards.
Trey is a true PV DAWG. Look for him to do some big things on the field this season, but what truly sets him apart is who he is every day. An outstanding student-athlete, Trey consistently shows discipline, grit, humility, and selflessness. He’s extremely coachable, always working to improve, and fully committed to the team and the standard. His best football is still ahead of him.
One of the best to do it in Jacksonville.
@JackBerquist14 isn’t just a great player he’s an even better young man. The way he competes, leads, and shows up every day is what separates him! @PVSharksFB
