Celebrating the timeless melodies of Bastar on a national stage. 🎶🌿

As part of the Bastar District Development Plan, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs is committed to preserving and promoting the region's rich cultural heritage by providing indigenous artists with national platforms to showcase their talent. At the Living Roots Originals Song Lab, jointly organised by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and IPRS, artists from the tribal communities like Gond, Madia, etc of Bastar are representing the vibrant musical traditions of Chhattisgarh. Through original songwriting, collaboration and professional music production, these artists are carrying forward centuries-old traditions while creating new opportunities for cultural recognition and sustainable livelihoods. Every performance is a celebration of identity, language, creativity and the living heritage of India's tribal communities.

The week-long Training-cum-Workshop for Tribal Language Teachers concluded at the Tribal Research Institute & Training Centre (TRI & TC), Assam Lingzey, Sikkim. Organised by the Social Welfare Department, Government of Sikkim, in collaboration with the Directorate of Languages and Textbook, with support from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, the workshop equipped educators with innovative teaching approaches while reinforcing the vital role of tribal languages in preserving cultural identity.

Through expert sessions, experience sharing and discussions on child-centred learning, oral traditions and community knowledge, the programme strengthened the capacity of teachers to inspire future generations to learn, speak and celebrate their mother tongues.

Tripura Demonstrates Best Practices in Last-Mile Tribal Service Delivery

Today’s review meeting with the North-Eastern States highlighted Tripura’s innovative field practices in strengthening Adi Sewa Kendras as accessible service delivery centres for tribal communities.

The State has demonstrated that well-functioning ASKs can become effective platforms for:
📌 Timely grievance registration and resolution through Jan Sunwai and grievance registers
📌 Assistance for Aadhaar, Ayushman Bharat, PM-KISAN, pensions, scholarships and other citizen services
📌 Continuous IEC campaigns through local media, wall paintings, hoardings and community outreach
📌 Active support from Panchayati Raj Institutions, tribal leaders and NGOs for mobilising communities
📌 Regular video conferences, field visits and technical support to ensure quality implementation even in remote areas

These field-led innovations illustrate how effective coordination, community participation and sustained monitoring can transform ASKs into vibrant centres of citizen-centric governance and strengthen the impact of the Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan across tribal areas.

Tripura’s Successful Administrative Model for Adi Sewa Kendras & Adi Karmayogi Volunteers

Tripura’s experience demonstrates how strong administrative leadership and community participation can accelerate tribal development.

During today’s Progress Review Meeting with the North-Eastern States, Tripura showcased several best practices that have enabled rapid progress in the mapping of Adi Sewa Kendras (ASKs) and registration of Adi Karmayogi Volunteers (AKVs).

Key elements of the model include:
✅ Clear administrative ownership from State, District, Block and Village levels
✅ One Village – One Adi Sewa Kendra approach with dedicated AKV support
✅ Continuous monitoring, regular review meetings and field supervision
✅ Capacity building of nodal officers and dedicated technical support teams
✅ Community mobilisation through Jan Bhagidari, Gram Sabhas and Jan Sunwai initiatives
✅ Strong convergence with line departments for service delivery and grievance redressal

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs appreciated Tripura’s systematic approach and encouraged other North-Eastern States to adapt these practices to strengthen last-mile governance and improve access to government entitlements for tribal communities.

Chongpreng: Tripura's Traditional String Instrument

The Chongpreng is a traditional bamboo string instrument of Tripura's tribal communities. With a hollowed bamboo body, a parchment-covered resonator, and three strings, it produces a melodious tone often likened to the Sarod.

Recently highlighted by PM Shri Narendra Modi in the 136th episode of Mann Ki Baat, its revival is being carried forward by artiste Suraj Kumar Debbarma, reconnecting younger generations with this indigenous tradition.

Dilip Mahadu Gavit wins Gold in the Men's Para 100m T47 at CWG 2026, Glasgow, clocking a Games Record time of 10.71s.

From Toran Dongari village near Nashik, Gavit began athletics at the age of 17 after being spotted by coach Vaijanath Kale. He is already an Asian Para Games gold medallist (400m T47, Hangzhou 2022).
